"Exploring all that is pet friendly
in the Sunshine State"

Greetings, everyone!

If you have trouble viewing emails with images, or if you want to bookmark this month's issue, please read the NewsPetter online here.

Please welcome our newest advertiser, One Dog One Bone Doggie Pools.

I'm going to do something a bit different with this month's issue. One of the things that stood out from last month's survey is it seems more of you are familiar with the NewsPetter than our accompanying web site, FloridaPets.net. That's good, but we offer a lot of information on our web site and I want everyone to know about it as well.

Therefore, I've done up a little index of sorts, listing all the stuff you can find on FloridaPets.net. You can bookmark whichever pages you find most interesting or you can bookmark the main page and visit the entire site later at your leisure. Just please be sure to check it all out - you'll see why we're truly the #1 online source for all that is pet friendly in the great state of Florida. Enjoy it all and pass the word to other pet parents you know or come across in your daily travels.

We'll be back with the regular format next month and I'll announce the winner of the grand prize from those of you who were kind enough to take time to complete the survey.

All About FloridaPets.net
Questions, answers and where to find stuff

1. Dog parks and pet friendly beaches
in and around 122 Florida cities.

2. Hotels, motels, bed and breakfast inns in just about every city in Florida PLUS the ability to make reservations for any of those places without having to leave the Web site FloridaPets.net.

3. Where doggie dining is on the menu. Which cities or counties have approved, rejected or are in the process of considering doggie dining so far and a link to a page with a sample letter you can send to help convince your politicians to think about it.

4. Pet friendly housing. Links to Web sites with pet friendly housing choices. We plan to expand this section to include senior housing.

5. Pet Friendly Emergency Shelter Guide. If you bookmark this page once, you'll have the latest info each time we do updates. We've had at least one other Web site steal our content here, then not bother to keep it updated, so be sure you check our guide or your county's info to get the correct info if you must evacuate during a hurricane, fire or other disaster.

6. General directory. Listings categorized, such as animal related gifts, dog training, rescues, humane societies, food, publications, horses, pet sitters, rescues, wildlife and many more.

7. Calendar of events. Lots of people responding to the survey asked about events and we have a great calendar where you can view and/or post pet friendly events at no charge.

8. Message board . Would you be surprised to know we have a nice forum for pet people? Check it out here.

9. Back issues of the NewsPetter.
Some readers asked to see old issues of the NewsPetter and we've got links to all 55 issues here.

10. Pet of the Week. Besides the pet we feature in the NewsPetter each month, we save a nice big spot on the front page of FloridaPets.net for the Pet of the Week.

11. Our blog. Yes, we even have our own blog where we discuss both general and Florida specific issues about pets.

12. The Paw Patch Shoppe. We have a nice little store where we sell Liquid Syn- flex to help with arthritis in both pets and people. We also sell Poop-Freeze, the spray that helps you get rid of pet poop pronto, doggie cookies with no preservatives and a few other surprises. These are items we use ourselves and as wholesalers, we can keep the prices low.

13. Yearly photo album. This is where we show off all the pets of the week for each year - goes back to 2003!

14. Reviews of pet products. When we find a great new pet product, we either start selling it in our Paw Patch Shoppe (see above) or else I write about it here.

15. Animal quotes. Looking for a saying about dogs, cats, horses, pigs, even cows? We've compiled many quotes here and have given the sources if known.

16. Praises and Piddles. This section used to be quite popular, then I hurt my back and had to start leaving some things less complete. I'll strive to breath fresh life back into this in 2008.

17. Online pet freebies We've got a pretty decent list of cool stuff for pets and their people.

18. Low cost spay/neuter resources. We're happy to offer a pretty extensive list of places that offer low cost spaying, neutering and/or vaccinations.

19. What people are saying.
When someone gives the site or the NewsPetter a compliment, we like to add it here.

20. Memorial page. We pay tribute to a couple of sweet souls who helped us with FloridaPets.net in the early days.

21. Link exchange. We like trading links with sites like ours. We have some rules, so if you'd like to exchange links with us, please read this page first.

22. Advertising rates. Info if you're interested in advertising on FloridaPets.net or in the NewsPetter.

23. RSS Feed. Weekly news items relating to Florida pet friendly locations, etc. We'll work hard to keep this more up to date in 2008.

24. Pet People Helping Pet People. This is a forum we designed to help pet people without family or friends connect with other pet people.

25. Privacy policy. We pledge to our readers we will never violate your trust by selling, trading or giving away any information about you.

From me to you

FloridaPets.net has been online since October of 2001 and offers all kinds of pet friendly information for Florida residents and visitors. It's the main part of what we do. As a matter of fact, a lot of the things readers said in the survey they thought would help make the NewsPetter more useful are items we've had on the FloridaPets.net Web site for quite some time. A good example is our dog parks/dog friendly beaches page.

I get about 70-80 emails every day and spend a lot of time answering questions, many which can be found on one of the pages we've linked you to here. If you need to know something you can't find on FloridaPets.net, or have suggestions about what we could add, feel free to contact me. Please be patient and give me a few days to respond. Remember, I must rest my back frequently.

Plus, while I refer to "we" a lot, in reality it's just me and, on occasion, my wonderful husband when he helps me file, make calls, ship products and the like.

Oh, yes, and our two dachshunds, but they snack while they work and end up getting sticky paws all over the computer screen...

Until next month, thanks for tailing along with both the NewsPetter and FloridaPets.net.
