Greetings, everyone
.Do you have trouble viewing emails with
images?
Then you'll
want to read the NewsPetter
here.
Dog therapists are fairly common these
days, but
we think we've found one of the first cat
shrinks in
Florida. Kerry Hyde Ph.D., whose business is
CatPsych, is
a feline behaviorist who offers in home or
phone consultations for guardians of problem
kitties.
We're pleased to have Dr. Hyde address
litter
box issues for
NewsPetter readers.
"Pet lovin' people"
not only love animals, we love people who
love animals, including politicians.
FloridaPets.net
has been researching which
Florida lawmakers share the love for furry,
scaly and
feathered companions. Check out our
Pet-Friendly Florida Politicians.

Pet-Friendly Dining
Manners, manners, manners
Editor's Note:
Dog peeps need to remember that this
whole
doggie dining thing is temporary, just a three
year
pilot program, not automatically renewable.
We're ambassadors for the whole idea, so let's
be extra careful when being seen out and
about with our pets. Tina Valant-Siebelts, the
talented photographer whose work is shown
here and above, is also a writer and we
recommend
reading her article on this topic entitled,
Dos & Dont's of Dining with Dogs.

Pet-Friendly Vacation Spot
Tropi Rock Resort - Fort Lauderdale
A vacation should be a break from the
ordinary. This
month's pet-friendly spot claims to be that,
or, as they put it, "We don't rent rooms, we
sell
happiness."
Tropi Rock Resort is one of the more
famous
resorts in Ft. Lauderdale. So of course you'll
get the
tropical haven-type pampering. The rooms
have
unique decor and even the furnishings are
hand
crafted. A gym and heated pool, gardens, and
the
area's only on-site tennis courts add to Tropi
Rock's
appeal for those looking for happiness with
style.
Staff at Tropi Rock tell us small, flea-free
pets,
under
25-pounds, are permitted with prior
management approval. There is a
$10 plus tax per pet fee per day. Guests will
be
responsible
for any property damage caused by their pet.

Tips and Tails
Special announcements or news from readers
1. You could soon wind up in deep
doo doo in Punta Gorda. The City is
considering an
ordinance to fine guardians if they don't pick
up after
their pets. Sources from other areas in Florida
hint
this might be a trend state-wide.
2. According to a recent poll of American Academy
of
Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) members,
dog custody cases spawning from divorces
are
most common, with cats accounting for 5
percent of
disputes.
3. Help make sure condo owners
can
live
in peace with their pets. Sign the petition at Citizens
for Pets
In Condos.

repetitive,
subliminal message from

From Our Readers
Meet Dancer, little but mighty
companion to
Jenny
Gomes of Okahumpka. Dancer
was one
of two unborn pups of an
abandoned momma dog. Momma was rescued
and
once born, Jenny cared for the pups. But
Dancer
didn't seem to grow and at one point, Jenny
had to
hand feed him. The vet wasn't optimistic, but
Jenny
persevered and, as you can see, Dancer is
now a
healthy, handsome boy.
"I was born with
Congenital Toxoplasmosis, Retinal," said
Jenny. "I lost my driver's
license due to vision lose last year and was
unable to
continue to work full time in the field I was in. I
was
the Animal Care Coordinator for a local Animal
Rescue
Group. I was feeling useless until Dancer gave
me a
reason to keep on rescuing."
Dancer may only weigh 18 ounces and
stand only
4 inches tall, but he's given Jenny a ton of love.
