Poll: Pay extra to take your pet along?

From the Editor

My little pal Geezer and I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a fun and safe July 4th celebration. Don't forget to keep the pets inside during the fireworks as most of them don't find the whistles and explosions quite as exciting as we do!

Woo, hoo! I am thrilled to announce our upgrade of vacation accomodations on FloridaPets.net. While we used to have a few general listings, we are now listing all major cities in Florida and are calling several hotels and motels in each area to find ONLY those that are pet-friendly.

This is something we are doing ourselves. We are not using someone else's listings or taking old information off some Web site. We are providing you with fresh, updated listings, so check it out! We've completed the cities marked with an asterisk (*) and we plan to have the others done by July 31, 2003.

Thanks for being part of our pack...we welcome all your feedback...about the site and about the FloridaPet.net NewsPetter!

   Greetings!

Welcome to the FloridaPets.net NewsPetter. In this issue, we'll tell you about some exciting updates to the FloridaPets.net Web site. We'll also discuss a wonderful pet-friendly vacation spot we uncovered near Orlando. Pet photos and story submissions are pouring in from our readers, so we've selected a couple to share with you.

We want our subscriber base to keep growing, so please pass the word about this FREE ezine. We'll keep adding content to YOUR NewsPetter to make it as interesting and helpful as possible. We absolutely encourage you to give us your opinions on items relating to YOUR NewsPetter, to any topic discussed herein, or to any topic you'd like to see discussed in future issues.

Thanks for "tailing" along with FloridaPets.net.

Sincerely,

Patricia Collier, Editor

  •   Editor's note: Kathryn Coursey believes dobermans are super intelligent and the tongue-and-cheek photo of her dobie named Baby, shown at left, demonstrates just how true that might be! Baby is so smart, she does the dishes! (Does anyone have a dog who will mow the yard?)

I used to breed dobermans. One of my pups was chosen by a very nice young, Christian man. He told me he'd grown up with huskies but had not known much about dobermans. I told him that he would be AMAZED with his pup. He asked all the right questions and by the time he left, I was very comfortable about his taking one of my pups.

Soon after he returned to his home with her, he emailed me, saying, "She did great on the ride home! Then about 5 a.m., she licked me on the face to wake me so I figured she needed to go out. Since I had been gone a few days, there were a few small limbs that had dropped off the trees in my back yard. As I waited for her to 'do her business', I gathered a few up and placed them on a pile to be removed later.

"I turned around to check on her and saw her sitting down with her head cocked sideways, watching me. Then she slowly got up, went to a small fallen branch, picked it up, carried it to my pile and dropped it on top. I nearly fell over! You weren't kidding about just how SMART they are!"

No... I wasn't kidding. This young man was SO impressed, he came back and took home one of her sisters. He is STILL just as impressed and happy with them after 15 months as he was then.
