Feature: Feral cats not forgotten
It's Meow or Never for Ferals logo

"One must love a cat on its own terms." - Paul Gray

Most of us are very familiar with friendly, household cats and kittens. However, feral cats are often elusive creatures that can be easily forgotten in the world of animal rights and welfare.

A "feral" cat is one who has reverted in some degree to a wild state, typically from domesticated cats who were lost or abandoned. These cats learned to live outdoors or in environments involving little human contact, such as warehouses, factories or abandoned buildings.

This is where It's Meow Or Never For Ferals comes in. We recognize that feral cats need to be loved on their own terms, living free outdoors and enjoying life napping in the sunshine and playing with butterflies.

Our mission is to educate the public on feral cats and why Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) is so important to their health and safety, and to coordinate the efforts of volunteers who wish to carry out TNR and be caretakers of feral cat colonies.

If you'd like to get involved in your community by doing TNR for feral cats, please contact Kerry Hyde, Ph.D., at (850) 322-6947 or Debra Scott at (850) 933-5767 or check out the web site below.

Dear Patricia,

If you have trouble viewing emails with images, please read the NewsPetter here

I'm trying something a bit different with the NewsPetter this month. Every week, I get the heads up about so many different pet-related things around Florida and beyond. Even though I post several of them on FloridaPets.net, such as new dog parks or places to dine with pets, many other items just get filed away and I never get a chance to share them.

So, I'm going to change the NewsPetter format to more of a "What's New." It will be a potpourri, if you will, of what's been going on while we've all been doing something else. I want your feedback about this change. You might think it's crazy or maybe it's the best thing since sliced, er, doggie biscuits. Whichever, write and let me know.

What's New?

One of our advertisers has a special you'll like. Starting at $387, you get two nights at the Trade Winds Island Resort with Fido's Fabulous Adventure package. Check out the TradeWinds Resort ad below to make your reservations.

Baggies to pick up after your dog and bowls of water. They are looking for sponsors to acquire some benches.
