"Exploring all that is pet friendly in the Sunshine State"
December, 2007 Vol. 5 No. 12

Greetings, everyone!
If you have trouble viewing emails with
images, we don't want you to miss the good
stuff, so please read the
NewsPetter here.
Please welcome our newest advertisers,
The Jeweled Paw and Naples Dog
magazine.
In keeping with the spirit of the
season, check out our new Pet
People for Pet People Network. It's
designed for people who have pets,
but don't have nearby relatives or friends and
who may be in a phase of life where
they need moral support. Who better to
connect with than other people
with pets?
Our featured photo this month is of
4-year-old Nino, companion to
Yosly
Meana of
Miami Gardens, who is enjoying a few
moments before Santa's arrival.
We wish all of you and yours the kind of
holiday season that will leave smiles on faces
for years to come.
May all of us and our companion animals stay
safe and healthy throughout the New Year.
(P.S. Survey results coming next month.)

From Our Readers
Mars is companion to Denise Villasana of
River Vale, New Jersey. He's a large red
Doberman adopted from the Bergen County
Animal shelter in Teterboro New Jersey in
September of 2000.
"Mars came in as an undernourished
stray while I was a volunteer there," Denise
said. "He quickly chose me as the one he
wanted to go home with. He's just about the
nicest dog there is. In addition to the Yankees,
Mars loves kids, other dogs and cats."

more. Pets cannot weigh more than 25 pounds
and there is a one-time, non-refundable $50

Tips and Tails
Dog Scouts of America has arrived in
Jacksonville where a new troop has formed.
Dog Scouts is a non-profit group
dedicated to enhancing and promoting the
human/canine bond through fun learning
experiences for members and activities for the
general public. Upcoming
events: Jan. 5 - Overnight camping at Little
Talbot Island; Feb. 2 - Agility Basics class;
Feb 16-17 - Pet Expo. For more information
about the group, please visit
Jacksonville Dog Scouts.
Beaches ARe for K9s Too, Inc. (BARK)
is a political action committee attempting
to amend the current ordinance banning dogs
on the beach in Palm Beach County through
the Citizen's Initiative Procedure. As many of
you may know, Palm Beach is becoming
increasingly pet UNfriendly and the trend could
expand. BARK is working to have the issue
placed on the November, 2008 ballot for a
county-wide referendum vote, but they need
over 56,000 signatures of registered (PBC)
voters to make it happen. Go here for
more info.
Employers offering pet health care
have nearly doubled in the past three years.
Some of the major companies offering pet
insurance include Blockbuster, HSBC Bank,
Viacom and Ford.
Mobile veterinary MRI exams have
arrived in South Florida. Rover MRI,
LLC is the provider of the service. The
goal is to provide pets with the same
diagnostic
testing available for humans - at a reasonable
cost. For more information, contact Hometown
Animal Hospital at (954)349-5800.
It's time for the
repetitive, subliminal message from
FloridaPets.net:
"Your pet's poop is
your
responsibility,
always. Don't be a beehind and leave
it
behind."
