Nassau Humane Society Dog Park
By Patricia Collier, Owner, FloridaPets.net
The Nassau Humane Society Dog Park has something not many dog parks have – pools for the pups.
Located at 641 Airport Road in Fernandina Beach, the dog park is situated on 1.3 acres near the Nassau Humane Society at 671 Airport Road. The park has fall/winter and spring/summer hours, so check the Nassau Humane Society Dog Park website for the current info.
There are three fenced areas inside the Nassau Humane Society Dog Park; one for small dogs, one for large dogs, and a time-out area. Water play includes a large, bone-shaped swimming pool and, for the little pooches, a smaller garden pool. There are four wash stations, poop clean up facilities, and plenty of trees and benches.
A dedicated group of volunteers help with general enforcement of park rules and maintenance of the pools and the premises in general.
There are several options for a Nassau Humane Society Dog Park membership, from one month for $30 to one year for $240. A daily membership is also available for $10 per day. All membership categories charge extra for families with more than one dog.
Ed Hardee, volunteer with the Nassau Humane Society, said proceeds from the dog park benefit the homeless dogs and cats at the Society’s shelter.
