Note: Well-behaved, leashed dogs are allowed to visit all Broward County Parks except the following: Nature Centers: Anne Kolb, Secret Woods, Fern Forest, Tall Cypress, Hillsboro Pineland, and Deerfield Island.
1. Happy Tails Park at Seminole Park
Located at 6600 SW 16th Street, off Peters Road. To get there, go east on Peters Road from University Drive, make a right turn at the traffic light on Figtree. There is another park on the other side of the road. This road will curve around and come to a stop sign and you will be across from a school. Make a right at the stop sign and a left at the next stop sign. That road will curve around and lead you to Happy Tails.
The park has three sections: a small area for small doggies; a larger area with jumps and training paraphenalia - small & large dogs go to this area; and a huge area that's mostly for larger dogs, but also has smaller dogs that can "hold their own." The park also features parking, restrooms and pavilions. Open to the public from 7:00 a.m. until dusk, seven days a week. Holiday hours will vary.
Various canine events and activities are held throughout the year. For information on these happenings, you should contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 954-452-2510 or 954-797-2162.
2. Plantation Heritage Park
Located at 1100 South Fig Tree Lane. Offers pooper scooper stations and plastic bags. For more information, call 954-791-1025.
NOTE: We can't visit every area on a regular basis, so if you have information about any dog parks or beaches, or any other animal recreation facilities, in the Plantation area, please contact FloridaPets.net.
